Let me introduce myself...
Hi again! I'm Kellie.
I am an eager, open-minded UX designer. I discovered my love for design while practicing as a speech-language pathologist (SLP). You might be thinking, "How is that possible? Those are two completely different fields!" Yes, but no. On the surface, I'm singing "Wheels On The Bus" with 2-year olds and giving them tools to communicate. Behind closed doors, many valuable skills from this career carry over into user experience design. For example, I'm constantly problem-solving and using perceptual reasoning to take in information, organize and interpret it, and create solutions. I'm a "master" of teaching communication and have learned how to translate these skills into digital experiences that create something meaningful for the user. I utilize my advanced empathy and social communication skills to truly understand user needs. By leveraging these skills, my goal is to create visual and equitable digital solutions and connect them with emotional, human experiences to ultimately bring people together.
Creating
Outside of digital design, you can find me doodling, creating tangible pieces of work, and creating memories with family and friends. I love to channel and challenge my creativity with drawing, painting, decorating, and playing my ukulele.
Learning
Constantly motivating myself to learn more and level-up my skills. With my Master's degree in speech-language pathology, Google UX Design Certificate, and currently FreeCodeCamp to gain some coding skills, I love finding ways to learn more. Equally (if not more) important, I'm also finding ways to learn more and better myself by going to therapy, learning to be an ally and advocate, and practicing self-care.
Exploring
Sun, rain, or snow, I love to adventure. My favorite way to explore new (and old) places is on foot with my dog, Delta. I love to experience different cultures and travel whenever I get the opportunity. I recently just ran my first full marathon and will find any excuse to talk about it!
